The application process for the Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) certification for those from Non-NASP-Approved programs has been updated. If you have previously considered applying for national certification, now is the perfect time to review the new requirements and changes. Fall applications must be submitted by November 1.
Eligibility for NCSP Benefits
Graduates from a Non-NASP-Approved/Accredited program or from any school psychology program completed more than 10 years ago are eligible to apply.
Required Documentation
Applicants must provide:
- Program Verification
- Internship Verification
- Official Praxis Report
- Official Transcript
- Complete Portfolio*
*A complete portfolio includes the Domain Response Matrix, Evidence of Competence, and Problem-Solving Report.

Key Changes to the Application Process
The National School Psychology Certification Board has made several updates to simplify and enhance the application process:
- Updated rubric for clarity, aligning with the 2020 NASP Practice Model Standards.
- No need to submit a syllabus as knowledge indicators are removed for all domains.
- The Domain Matrix now allows applicants to explain their role for each artifact.
- Examples and nonexamples of evidence are now provided for each domain.
- The previously required Case Study has been replaced by a Problem-Solving Report.
