    Malika Pegues, a graduate student in the school psychology program, passionately advocates for mental health and social justice.

    • Malika Pegues is a published school psychology master’s student, United States Air Force veteran, and passionate advocate for mental health and social justice.
    • Born and raised in New York City, Pegues is currently a work-study intern in veterans affairs and a soon-to-be CUNY veteran peer mentor working with women.
    • She earned her undergraduate degree in cognitive and behavioral neuroscience and therapeutic recreation with the CUNY Baccalaureate for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies program at the Graduate Center.
    • Her service in the Air Force shaped her tenacity to tackling the vigorous education of CUNY.
    • Dedicated to social justice, she is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, seeks to make an impact on educational inequities, loves doing community service, going to fundraisers, and painting.
    • Working as a practicum intern at Westbury High School on Long Island, she hopes to become a certified school psychologist while having an interest in neuropsychology.
    • Her post-graduation goals include participating in the DOE Psychologist in Training program for salaried internship experience.
