School Psychologist of the Year: University of Texas Tyler's own

Rene Hernandez, an alum of The University of Texas at Tyler, was named Outstanding School Psychologist of the Year by the Texas Association of School Psychologists (TASP).
A native of El Paso, Hernandez has served Strickland Middle School in Denton for nine years.
TASP recognizes school psychologists, graduate students and school districts that exemplify the practice of school psychology.
Hernandez holds adjunct faculty appointments at both UT Tyler and North Central Texas College.
He has provided training to a statewide audience around topics such as multicultural considerations of bilingual evaluation.
Hernandez holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology as well as a Master of Science in clinical psychology from UT Tyler.
With a mission to improve educational and health care outcomes for East Texas and beyond, UT Tyler offers more than 90 undergraduate and graduate programs to nearly 10,000 students.
